Alright, so keep in mind I'm updating from June, 2013.
First things first: Semester #1 of college went well. Workload wasn't bad at all, but I'm not expecting things to stay that way. The highlight of my semester was probably working on a project for Architecture of Empire, in which I got to develop my own fictional, ancient empire. More on that soon.
Songwriting has been slow this past semester. I think much of it has to do with the fact that I'm a lot happier with myself now, so I feel less compelled to vent my frustrations through music. Nonetheless, I do intend to complete my third yearly album by the end of summer, and as always, I'm constantly adding to my list of cover songs.
Also, last August, I did manage to finish recording demos of my first two albums. I'm still not sure when I'll get the chance to record them for real. You can listen to the demos by following the links provided below.

As far as art is concerned, my output has been pretty strong and consistent lately. I'm feeling a lot more confident now with all media - pencil, colored pencil, digital. I hope to keep this up as we start the new year.

Whether You're Ready or Not

(The title of this journal is the title of my most recently composed song. Currently, it is in the running to become the title of my 'second album,' which is set to contain twelve tracks. Part-writing and demo-recording begin this summer.)
Wow, it has been an incredibly long time since I last updated my journal. I suppose I've been busy, though not with anything interesting enough to pester you all about.
My plans for this summer:
- Get ready to go off to college
- Draw a lot
- Write a lot
- Compose, play, and record a lot of music
- Watch a bunch of stuff that will surely kill off brain cells, though hopefully not too many
What to expect from me this summer on dA:
- A lot of character sketches for my new story, 'Seven Drops of Ivory'
- A lot of prize art and special requests
- More drawings to add to my 'Infinite Playlist' series, including illustrations and possible cover art for my 'second album'
I think that's all for now. So, 'whether you're ready or not,' here I come!

Nature at Work

So I was recording some stuff out in the living room when I noticed a giant fly crawling around. I kept an eye on it to make sure it wouldn't start climbing up my leg, but suddenly I caught sight of it lying upside down. So I looked more closely and realized that it had fallen prey to a spider. A spider that was probably a quarter its size.
And so the battle ensued, with the tiny spider seeming to have complete dominance over the oversized fly. The fly was bent over and even lifted up into the air by the spider's silk, and so I thought I had found the perfect moment to grab my camera and take a few close-ups.
By the time I had returned, though, camera in hand, the fly was upright on the ground again. It looked as if it were cleaning itself off, and the tiny spider was nowhere to be found.
And I missed the crucial turning point.
